In case you missed Part 1 of our 10 Year Anniversary trip, you can see the recap here. Now onto Part 2!
We loved the scenery and relaxation of Sedona, but decided to add a second destination that had more entertainment options. Well what better city than Vegas?! It was a quick 45 minute flight from Arizona.
We stayed at the MGM Grand for three nights and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Great rooms at a reasonable rate. And it's located at a great spot on the strip with easy access to plenty of action. The whole visit was a great mix of seeing shows, playing blackjack, lounging by the pool, eating fantastic dinners out, and of course - people watching, which never gets old.
We saw two shows while we were there. First, the Cirque de Soleil Michael Jackson Tribute show at Mandalay Bay. GOODNESS I had goosebumps the entire time. This was one of the best shows I've ever been to. Perhaps it's because I've adored MJ's music since I was a little girl!!! But we were dancing the whole time. His music is so powerful. And the show really brought it to life and expressed it in the artistic way that only Cirque de Soleil can do. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
And the second show we saw was Celine!! Celine Dion has a residency deal at Caesar's Palace and it was absolutely amazing. She is adorable and so entertaining. I love all her gown changes and fierce poses. I can't say enough good things. Her show is a must see while you're in town.
I've learned that Vegas is all what you make of it. And it truly never sleeps. I was laughing every time we got into the elevators at 7am to get breakfast. There was party music blasting as we descended down all 27 floors. Basically the whole city says, "Why would you sleep while you're here?", to which I reply... "Please turn down the ooonce ooonce music first thing in the morning. I just woke up."
But I would go back again for sure!
The whole 8 day trip was fantastic. I had the best time with my husband, and I appreciate that he always prioritizes alone time away together. I love adventuring with him and can't wait for many more trips in the future.
Another special thanks to my mother-in-law who spent the entire week taking care of the kids so that we could truly get away mentally and physically! Thank you so much Nonni!
