Baseball & Dancing

Monday, April 13, 2015

Our Saturday mornings now include the practices of a tiny dancer and a pee wee baseball player. And it is so stinkin cute! A few years ago when we had little babies I knew this day would come - when our weekends would slowly morph into hours at the ball field, and the dance studio, and the fill-in-the-blank with whatever activity their are passionate about. We still keep it to one activity per kid, per season. But I'm enjoying this new family weekend dynamic more than I thought I would. There's something so special and thrilling about watching your babies learn something new and taking on a challenge. Sometimes I watch them and think to myself, "Did I ever have that much guts?"

I clearly remember being the little girl who was cheerleading at the Saturday morning pee wee football game. And the girl who had Jump Rope Team performances all over the county (Yes, I said JUMP ROPE TEAM. We were called the Hot Sox and I was a double dutch pro at age 10. *Insert cry laughing emoji.*) I was also the girl who had musical theater practice until midnight. And the girl who was in the touring choir and visited a different location every weekend. And my parents were the ones driving me there, watching with pride, cheering me on. And now it's MY turn to do the same for my babies!

Life is so crazy short.
