Well, I forgot to post my goals last month so I thought I would catch up this month and write out a few for July. I only choose four to focus on and I always give myself tons of grace.
ESTABLISH A HALF-MARATHON TRAINING SCHEDULE // This has been tricky for me given our summer schedule. I have fit in my runs either early in the morning before the family is awake, or later at night after dinner. And since I am a slow runner, it takes me a while to log those miles. Plus I am trying to find time to get to Barre twice a week. It's just a balancing act and my goal this month is to find a groove that works for the whole family.
READ TWO BOOKS // I have two very specific books I want to finish this month - The Case for Faith by Lee Strobel and The Reason for God by Tim Keller. Both of these books are rich in theology and analytical thinking. Each of them examine the typical questions that people have about Christianity and some of the major barriers to faith such as.... Why does God allow suffering? How can there only be one true religion? Doesn't science disprove Christianity? It's all so interesting. I've been feeling lately that I need to be better prepared to always have an answer for anyone who asks me to give a reason for the hope that I have (1 Peter 3:15). I think it's important to question and study and process our faith. As many times as we need to. I don't want to go through the motions of a faith practice because my parents did, or most people in my circle of influence do, or my culture tells me it's the right thing. God tells us we have direct access to Him and that we will always find Him if we seek Him. I believe that. I want to live that.
MAKE A FAMILY iMOVIE // I did a little family iMovie back in the winter and it was such a fun project. I would love to make at least two a year. So I think it's time to make a summer version!
WEEKEND BIKE RIDES // Husband and I recently got bikes of our own which means all four of us can ride together! Let me tell ya, it's a whole new world when no one has training wheels. We found an absolutely gorgeous biking trail nearby that we plan to hit most Saturdays for the rest of the summer. Biking together is probably my favorite family activity.
It's nice to think through a few things each month that I'd like to accomplish. Otherwise I piddle around and start a bunch of projects I never finish. This exercise helps me stay accountable. Leave me a comment if you have posted your goals for the month!
And as always, I am linking up with the insightful Hayley!
