A Family Tradition // Hilton Head Island, SC
Thursday, June 5, 2014
So after a couple fun and exhausting days in Disney World, we rented a car and drove up to our favorite place on earth, Hilton Head, SC for the relaxation portion of the trip. We stayed for seven amazing days. I wish I could put into words the gift that this trip is to me each year. After some of the hardest, longest winters I've ever experienced... this trip always feels like redemption. I finally de-thaw and my spirit is instantly lifted. It's true what they say, the crazy hard winters make the summers immeasurably more sweet. At least for this summer girl.
Some memories from this year include riding bikes to our favorite pizza place (Guiseppi's), an early morning seashell hunt on the beach with the kids, a breakfast beach picnic with just D-man and I, long solo sunrise jogs all over the resort, meeting up with our forever friends, The Taucher's, for dinner at our favorite restaurants around town, happy hour at our beach house with Husband & friends, having the pool all to our selves at times, watching the boys make up beach games (like throwing a ball into a giant pit they dug in the sand), and taking long walks on the beach with my headphones.
I sure do love our life in Pennsylvania, but boy do I have dreams of moving back to the south and living close to the ocean. I do think a piece of my heart lives on the Carolina Coast. I grew up going to the Outer Banks of North Carolina every year with my family. Those summers hold some of my most cherished memories. I am so thankful I get to now create new memories and traditions with my own little family in South Carolina!
