What I Learned in March

Friday, March 28, 2014

I am linking up with Emily today for her "What We Learned this Month" series.  It's where you can share anything you learned, both silly and serious.  So here's what I learned in the month of March.

1 // I am the worst vacation planner ever.

We are super thankful and excited to be going on a big family vacation in May.  We are going to hit two destinations.  And being that I hate crowds, hate standing in long lines, and super hate anything that requires a schedule or reservations....naturally... we chose Disney World as our first stop! Someone please hold me. Must pin all the things.  I am literally the worst vacation planner in the world.  I don't enjoy it and I get overwhelmed easily.  Fast passes, wrist bands, meal plans, meet-and-greet with such and such, monorail to here and there, reserve your ENTIRE DAY HOUR BY HOUR! All systems shutting down.  Thankfully, I found out that you can have a certified Mouse Counselor take care of allllllll this for you!?  And guys... there is no cost to you.  It's a FREE SERVICE.  Praise the good Lord above because he knows that Disney World already costs plenty.  I just happen to have a friend who is one of those fine mouse counselors and she has been a lifesaver in helping me plan this thing! (Bethany, I love you.)  If you would like her contact info, let me know and I can pass it along!

2 // I am officially obsessed with Barre.

For those of you who don't know, Barre is a workout that combines yoga, pilates and ballet.  And it is kicking my booty into shape!  I have tried many different workouts but I have never been so excited to go back to one again and again like I am with Barre.  I have been going for about one month and can already see the results in my strength and tone.

3 // I loved taking a Spiritual Gifts Assessment Test

My weekly bible study group took a Spiritual Gifts Assessment Test (similar to this one) and my top three gifts are: Encouragement, Counseling, and Creative Communication.  I was not surprised at all to see those three but it was still really fun to go through all the questions, and read the analysis of each gift and how they are valuable to the church.  I love knowing that God gives each of us different gifts that all work together for his purposes.  No gift is more important than another.  How beautiful.

4 // My kids are in love with this Drawing website.

Check out the Art for Kids Hub where you can find videos with easy step-by-step instructions for drawing all kinds of fun things.  My kids have spent HOURS drawing this week!

5 // The Office + Pop Culture Library = Brilliant

The Office Time Machine is a website I found this month where you can type in any year (for example 1993...which happens to be my freshman year of high school) and then see a bunch of clips from The Office where pop culture references from that year were mentioned.  It's amazing!  Best.show.ever.

As you can see, I learned a whole lot this month.  You're welcome.

  1. I am so with you on # 1 - please don't make me have to deal with details on my vacation! I just want to be. I hope you have a great one, sounds like the mouse planner is the way to go. #3 I think every Christian should discover their spiritual gifts - it helps us see how God designed us to all work together. I believe that if every person is using their spiritual gifts in the church then all the needs get met. Too many people are letting others do their part. I have enjoyed checking out your March lessons - I hopped over from Emily's link-up.
