Sister just had a birthday! The big 0-6. We didn't do a friends party for her this year. Just celebrated at home and it was the perfect simple evening. She opened presents which included an Easy-Bake Oven, a perfume set, and an American Girl Craft kit. We ate her favorite home cooked meal of penne with meatballs. And since she doesn't like cake, we got her a Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream cake. With six candles of course.
I wanted to record a few things about her, during her sixth year of life. // She's my little creative soul. And such a deep feeler and processor like me. We get each other. I have to remember to choose my words wisely and with sensitivity because they affect her deeply. She would sit at the kitchen table and be crafty all day if I let her. She loves art and music and giggling with friends. This year she's doing studio art class, girl scouts, and gymnastics. She's learning to read and enjoys writing cards to friends and family members. Her love language is quality time and her favorite thing in the entire world is when all four of us are in the same room together. Miss Independent likes to pick her own outfits for school each day, often breaking the mold with the things she chooses. "I don't care if it matches, Mom." She hums tunes or sings all.day.long. I recently downloaded a piano app on my phone to practice note recognition and pitch matching and she loves it. I could see her doing some kind of performing arts in the near future.
I'm praying this verse over her this year:
"I have made you. I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you." -Isaiah 46:4 (NIV)
I dug up this video the other day, and I thought I would share it here. It's a video of when she had just turned 3 (three years ago!) singing Taylor Swift's "Love Story".... I.just.can't.even.

Happy Birthday to my sweet baby girl. I love you so.
