Day 16 of 31 // Trading Talents
Wednesday, October 16, 2013
You may have seen this beautiful birthday cake in yesterday's post. Our family just loved it! I wanted to point out that the cake was actually the result of a trade agreement with my good friend Kristin.
A few months ago, I took some portraits of Kristin's boys. It's something I enjoy doing, especially for a friend. When she offered to pay me, I absolutely could not take her money. However, I did suggest that she pay me in one of my favorite currencies... sugar. SHOW ME THE SUGAR KRISTIN. You see, she is a very talented baker and cake decorator. So how perfect that we trade a photo session for a birthday cake? I love it!
I have so many talented friends. I love the idea of blessing each other with our gifts and talents. Not because we need to be 'paid' in some way. But because we are a community who cares for each other and loves to put our hands to work in a way that helps a friend. We are all artists in some unique way. We all bring beauty and talent to this world. Some can capture life's sweetest moments on camera. Some can lovingly put ingredients together to make the most delicious treats. Some can host beautiful parties, or write poetry, or organize your home. Some can teach and entertain and love your kids well. Some can help you with fashion, or finances, or cooking.
Give your talents away. Create some of your art that blesses a friend today.
