90's music, tiki torches, and the game of UNO

Sometimes unexpected family magic happens. A simple Labor Day cookout, just the four of us, turned into such a memorable night. Maybe it was the new twinkling tiki torches, maybe it was the fact that our kids are getting really good and really competitive at the game of UNO, or maybe it was the amazing 90's jams we had playing in the background. I'm talking Coolio's Gangsta's Paradise (Husband and I sang every word), and Mariah Carey's Dreamlover, and my all-time favorite... Lisa Loeb's Stay (I Missed You). Oh, 90's music how I love you. It was like feeling 15 again. And 15-year-old Bri was sitting on this deck watching her future self and being ridiculously crazy-in-love happy at seeing how life turns out. Playing cards and watching the faces of my children laughing in the moonlight.
It was a beautiful, perfect, evening.
Now do yourself a favor and go and listen to some Lisa Loeb today.
