Setting the tone

I love this time of year.
Each afternoon, I open the french doors in the kitchen and a light breeze flows through. I turn on my favorite Pandora station and make some PB&J's for the kids. Strawberries and blueberries are plentiful. Most days we take our plates outside on the deck to enjoy temperatures that aren't too hot or too cold, but just perfect.
Lately, I've been making an effort to enjoy lunchtime with my crew. I used to rush through it and move on to the next thing eager for naptime to begin. But as the kids get older and more able to help themselves, it feels so much less chaotic. I'm learning that I'm the one who can set the vibe and tone for us. A little music, a little fresh air, and a slower pace... it's about being in the moment. And it's made a big difference in this specific part of our day.
Do you have a favorite time of day? Why?
